GAME REVIEW

WARRIORS WIN THIRD
STRAIGHT
Yansey Donald returns
an interception for a record breaking 100-yard
touchdown in the Warriors win.

- The Lima Warriors fans witnessed another exciting
game against the Fort Wayne Flyers. Once again, the
Warriors were victorious.
Quarterback Kaene Runion had another solid performance
in his second start, throwing for 94 yards, one
touchdown and ran for a touchdown to lead Lima’s 33-12
rout of the Fort Wayne Flyers.
The Warriors
improve their record to 8-1 while taking a five-game
lead over second-place Fort Wayne (3-6) in the Ohio
Valley Division.
Porfirio Sutton
caught a career- high three passes for 57 yards and Randy
Ryan kicked three extra points in Lima’s third straight
victory.
Runion got the
Warriors on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run at
9:46 in the first quarter.
A record breaking
performance and huge plays highlighted Saturday’s game. Joe
Butcher returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown with 5:45
left in the first quarter. His score was part of a 14-point
first-quarter outburst by the Warriors.
Butcher also had a
punt return for a TD in Lima’s 68-0 victory against the West
Ohio Wranglers on June 10.
“I went to take a
right and I heard the coach in the back of my head saying
‘take a left’,” said Butcher. Once I cut left, the wall was
there and I just set it in cruise control and followed my
blockers.”
Former Lima
receiver Michael Woods helped the Flyers regroup and caught
two passes for 23 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown
reception with 2:10 left in the first quarter. Woods played
his last football game and the Warriors honored him
afterwards for the time he spent with their organization.

GAME PREVIEW

LIMA AND THE FORT
RIVARLY ROUND THREE
Warriors offense and
points production looks to get back on track this
week.

LIMA -
The
Lima Warriors look to improve to 8-1 on the season
when they entertain the Fort Wayne Flyers (3-5) on
August 5.
The match up
will be the last home game of the regular season. The
Warriors’ fans will still be able to see their beloved
team at home as the Warriors have already earned a
home game in the first round of the playoffs.
Fort Wayne fell
to the Macomb County Strength 12-13 last week in a
heartbreaker. A missed two-point conversion was the
end to a miserable day for the team. Twenty out of
sixty of the Flyers’ players showed up for the game
played at temperatures in the 100s.
Lima, however
did not have roster problems in their thrilling 16-15
win over the Motor City Warthogs last Saturday.
The two division
rivals faced each other June 24 at War Memorial
Stadium for a game originally scheduled in Fort Wayne.
The change of venues was made due to a field
discrepancy on Ft. Wayne’s home field. The outcome was
a 7-6 Warrior’s victory over the Flyers.
"If we don’t
come out with our top performance, it’s going to be a
struggle again," said running back Jeremy Bott. "They
are going to come out fired up."
