10/3/05 – LIMA, OH -
The Lima Warriors' front office has decided to start
focusing on the 2006 season instead of participating a
post season tournament.
"We received
several tournament invitations," explained team owner
Brock Hartman. "But we feel at this time it is
in the team's best interest to start focusing on
2006."
"A lot of
our players expressed an interest in continuing the
2005 season and after our loss in the conference
finals against Grand Rapids I don't blame them," said
head coach John Parkins, who also confirmed that he
will be returning as head coach in 2006.
"There was
some talk about this being my last season," said
Parkins. "But we still have not accomplished our
goal (winning a championship), so I will be back."
Lima ends
their 2005 season 11-2 overall, with their only two
losses coming at the hands of the Grand Rapids
Thunder, who lost this past weekend in the league
championship game against the defending champions,
Daly City Renegades 44-3.
"It's hard
to end a season with a loss, but at this point we have
got to do what is best for the team and that means we
are going to start getting ready for next season,"
added Hartman.
Lima
received invitations to play in the Midstates
tournament sponsored by National Football Events, the
2005 Buckeye Battle sponsored by the Ohio Semi-Pro
News and the Mid Alliance tournament sponsored by the
Minor League Football News.
